Features

Four problems. One recorder.

Four things make reaction videos take three times longer than they should: building the scene, syncing the tracks by hand, losing the sync the moment you pause, and rebuilding the layout when you change your mind. Every feature below exists because of one of them.

Every account starts with a 7-day full-Pro trial. No card required. Every Pro feature on this page is included for those seven days.

Problem one · scene setup

Nothing to configure before you press record

A reaction is two video sources and a microphone. In a broadcast tool that is a scene, a media source, a video capture device, an audio filter chain and a set of transforms — rebuilt every time you change your mind. Here it is a page you open.

  1. 1

    Runs in the browser

    Free

Chromium or Safari, camera and microphone permission, and that is the install. No desktop app, no plugin, nothing to keep updated.

  2. 2

    Source from a local file

    Free

Drag any video file in and it plays from your machine. Nothing is fetched from YouTube, TikTok or anywhere else on your behalf.

  3. 3

Source from a tab you capture

    Free

Start a capture and choose the tab yourself. Your browser asks permission every single time and you can stop sharing whenever you want. Source audio over tab capture works in Chromium desktop browsers but not in Safari or most mobile browsers.

  4. 4

Device and level check before you commit

    Free

Pick the camera and the microphone, watch the meter move, record a short test and play it back before the real take.

  5. 5

    Quality preset per session

    Free

720p on Free, 1080p on Creator, 4K source capture on Pro. Every paid plan exports a 1080p composite, and on Pro that composite is built from the original 4K file you recorded rather than a downscaled copy of it. Ask for more than your plan allows and the server clamps the request rather than failing halfway through a recording.

  6. 6

    Guests and AirCam

    Pro

Bring a co-host in from their own browser, or pair your phone as the camera. Each participant records their own clean track locally.

Problem two · manual sync

The alignment is recorded, not reconstructed

Matching a camera to a source by waveform works right up until the source has no distinctive transient, or you clapped off-mic, or you paused. So the relationship is written down while it happens instead of being guessed at afterwards.

  • Timeline written during the take

    Free

Every play, pause and seek is stamped with the wall clock and with the source's own playhead position at that instant.

  • Frame-accurate composite render

    Free

The renderer replays that timeline, so your camera sits against the frame you were looking at rather than against elapsed time.

  • Clean ISO tracks

    Creator

Your camera and the source as separate, unstyled files that begin at the same instant — the reason a CapCut or Premiere assembly needs no waveform matching.

  • Sync map beside the project files

    Pro

The machine-readable version of the same timeline, for anyone who wants to build something else on top of it.

Problem three · drift after a pause

Pause, rewind, walk away — the take survives all three

This is the failure that makes people record reactions in one nervous unbroken pass. Pausing to make a point, rewinding because you missed a line and stopping to answer the door are all normal, and none of them should cost you the edit.

Why the pause button matters →
  • 01

    Pause the source, keep rolling

    Free

The camera keeps recording while the source sits still, and the render knows the difference between the two.

  • 02

    Seek backwards and forwards mid-take

    Free

Rewind to watch a beat again and the render replays that section of source under the right part of your camera — the second pass, not the first.

  • 03

Session lengths that match the format

    Creator

Five minutes on Free, twenty on Creator, two hours on Pro and Founder — long enough for a full watch-along.

  • 04

    Local-first recording

    Free

Each device records its own track locally, so a wobbly connection costs you upload time rather than picture quality.

Problem four · rebuilding the layout

Layout and format are decisions you make afterwards

Nothing about the way the video looks is baked into the footage. The take is the take; everything downstream of it is a render you can run again with different settings.

  • Final Cut Pro
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Premiere Pro
  • MP4
  • FCPXML
  • EDL
  • OTIO
  • SRT

Those five are the formats we generate and test, and they are the only ones claimed anywhere on this site. There is deliberately no CapCut project file, because CapCut imports none of them — for that workflow the honest answer is two clean tracks with a shared start point.

post-record capabilities
  • Six layouts, chosen post-record CreatorFree includes Above the Fold; layout switching itself is a paid feature
  • Draggable and resizable slots CreatorCorner Pocket's circle and Green Room's window — where you leave them is what renders
  • Three aspects from one take Free9:16, 1:1 and 16:9, re-flowed not cropped
  • Burned-in captions + SRT Creatorburn them in for muted feeds, or restyle the sidecar
  • Clean ISO track downloads Creatorreactor and source as separate files
  • FCPXML · EDL · OTIO ProFinal Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Premiere Pro
  • Priority render queue Proyour renders go to the front when it is busy
  • Composited from your 4K source Prorecord 4K and the 1080 × 1920 render is built from that original file, not the proxy

On Free, recordings and exports are permanently deleted 24 hours after they are created. Download them before then, or upgrade to keep them.

Straight answers

What is included, and what is not

The numbers behind every tier live on the pricing page, including the storage quotas and the refund window.

What is actually free?

Recording with a synced composite, one layout, 720p, five-minute sessions and 2 GB of storage — with a watermark, and with a 24-hour delete on everything you record. Free is for proving the sync works, not for running a channel.

What does the trial include?

Every account starts with a 7-day full-Pro trial. No card required. That means all six layouts, ISO tracks, project files, guests, AirCam and two-hour sessions, on a 10 GB storage ceiling. If you do not upgrade, the account drops to Free and the 24-hour retention starts applying.

Which export formats are verified?

The 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9 composite, clean ISO tracks, SRT captions, and FCPXML, EDL and OTIO project files. Those are the ones we generate and test. There is deliberately no CapCut project file, because CapCut cannot import any of those formats.

What happens if I hit my storage quota?

Hitting your storage quota pauses new uploads and renders until you clear space. We never delete a paying customer's media. Storage: 2 GB free, 10 GB during the trial, 25 GB on Creator, 100 GB on Pro and Founder.

Does OverReact download videos from YouTube for me?

No. A session starts from a file you already have, or from a capture you begin yourself through your browser's permission prompt. Sourcing the material and holding the rights to it is your side of the line — and reaction content is not automatically fair use, so keep commentary substantial and expect Content ID to match music regardless.

Is my footage kept private?

Recordings are yours. On paid plans nothing is auto-deleted; on Free everything is permanently removed 24 hours after it is created, which is a limitation rather than a privacy feature — download what you make on the day you make it.

Use all of it for a week
